British Columbia Curling Tour Goes Live
OCTOBER 4, 2007 – The fledgling British Columbia Curling Tour hit the internet today, just hours before competitors at New Westminster’s Westcoast Curling Classic were scheduled to hit the ice.
The BC Curling Tour (BCCT) encompasses British Columbia’s men’s and women’s cashspiel tournaments in a new regional “tour” format. The events range from large high caliber events such as the Westcoast Curling Classic to smaller events in Victoria, Richmond, Prince George and Kelowna.
The BCCT is broken down into Women’s and Men’s sections, where teams will compete throughout the season to earn prize money towards the Tour standings. Many events are Men’s or Women’s only, but there are several Open events on the Tour schedule as well, including the Valley Open Cash Spiel.
The BCCT website, www.bccurlingtour.com, powered by CurlingZone, offers live real-time event results, weekly Tour rankings, team statistics and a qualifying road toward the new BCCT Championships.
“We want to gather all the competitive cashspiels in British Columbia together to create a strong regional Tour,” said Tour Development Director Gerry Geurts, of CurlingZone.
“Being a part of the British Columbia Curling Tour will provide extra exposure for sponsors and teams, as well as provide exposure for the events. Many teams will strive to improve their ranking, and play an extra spiel or two to build it up. This is the competitive nature that many teams have.”
BCCT events will have the ability to do live online scoring, using the system build by CurlingZone, promote their event and sponsorship and use many of the event management tools such as our online registration system. more...
